Riding Alone

This is the time of day Farm Girl has been coming in every evening after a ride.

More reason why she needs to be wearing one of these.

She has a new job that keeps her away from the farm until about 3pm.  When she gets home, she hurries to do chores and tack up her horse and try to squeeze a ride in before dark.  But with shorter daylight hours this time of year, she comes in darker then I prefer.

Speaking of riding, today Oldest had a short lesson on Chloe before she ran into town.  Before she untacked her, I decided to jump on her since I haven`t been on horseback for several weeks now.  It was my first time heading out alone.  We crossed the farmer`s field, came around the other side, went past the graveyard and rode home on the path leading up to our farm.  I felt like a kid again out on my bike exploring.  Loved it.  Chloe is an awesome horse and I could kick myself again for handing her over to Oldest.

Snow Globe

I don't how it started but the snow globe is a vital part of our Christmas decor.  It sits front and center on the coffee table in the TV room.  You see, it is a direct link to the north pole.  According to my son.

Farm Girl

Don't think  I ever mentioned before that I was really into photography for a short time a few years back.  I still really enjoy it, but I learned all there was to apertures, lighting, shutter speed, etc.  I bought myself a fancy pro camera, took a gazillion photos of my kids and anyone willing to model and then set out to find gigs.  I did alright but realized quickly that I loved photography more as a hobby then a job.  So sold my camera and bought a farm instead.  Haha, just kidding.  Kinda.  Anyway, fast forward to today.  I was going through some old photos for a project I have in mind and came across these of Farm Girl.  She was is one of my favourite subject matters to photograph.  She's a natural beauty.  Really, she could have been a model.  But, you know, I'm not superficial and all and wanted my beauty to know that true beauty came from within.  Still....loved taking her photo.

This was the first photo I ever took of her for my photography class and received a lot of unexpected praise.  Since then, my camera can't get enough of her.

Quicky Christmas Treat

Love these quick and easy treats.  All it is is pretzels, chocolate wafers in your choice of colour, and Smartie or M&M to finish.  Place wafer on pretzel, pop in heated oven for about two minutes or long enough to warm and soften wafer, then place Smartie on top then let cool.  Make a delicious mug of hot cocoa (candy cane is my personal choice), sit yourself down on the sofa, feet up and a favourite Christmas movie on the television.  Relax and enjoy.

Room Done

Well I was a few days late, but the room is finally done and we are all so very happy with the results.

Here's a before and after look.

Okay, the wall beneath the stairs is still incomplete, but it`s barely noticeable behind the door so will leave it like that until after Christmas.  And let's not even talk about the stairwell.  That's a whole new project in itself.

Field Trip

Today we joined our homeschooling group on a field trip to a Christmas tree farm.  We really enjoyed connecting with our group, getting a lesson on trees, the petting zoo, and enjoying all the fun activities the farm had to offer.  Here's some fun photos to share from the day.

Reindeer Theme

I have a Christmas theme.  I really had no idea I had one until I pulled out my decorations this year and bought these latest addition.

Reindeer are apparently a favourite of mine.
