Quick Outing
Mom and babe contemplate leaving the safety of their pen.
Ah well, I'm sure she'll be back outside in the next couple days and feeling more confident.
Okay, admittedly, I gave them a push, or in other words I carried baby away and mom followed. I read that new lambs were ready to join the flock as early as 24 hours after birth, however, I think I prefer when mom lets me know she is ready to rejoin the flock.
Mom was obviously uneasy.
Though she welcomed the other ewes, she still wasn't at ease outside with her precious charge.
Baby seemed to enjoy her outing however.
But their outing wasn't for very long and mom went back inside with baby.

Goodbye Pond!
At last a decision was made about the pond. The previous owners had built it without any inspection and was not up to code. I would have loved to have turned it into a pool but the walls were two inches below code and one wall was 26" too short compared to the other three walls. Besides, every quote we got was far too expensive to convert it from pond to pool. It sat empty for a year because I either had my son accidentally fall in it and drown or fall in and break his arm or worse break open his skull. Since he doesn't know how to swim I took my chances with keeping it empty. After that it just became an eye sore. And a breeding ground for mosquitoes and frogs. But not any more. No it will become more lawn.

First EVER Corn!
That I've grown right out of my own garden.
And the horses enjoyed some summer sweets as well...(they've actually been chowing down on the neighbours corn all summer long.)
